A meeting of heads of operational departments of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states devoted to combating organized crime was held in the Kazakh capital. Turkmenistan also participated in this intergovernmental event. Other participants in the event include representatives of Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, TASS reports.
The main topic of the meeting was the prevention of illicit arms trafficking, strengthening intelligence exchange between regional states, and developing effective methods to combat criminal groups.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov noted the importance of expanding effective cooperation not only in the fight against organized crime, but also in measures to combat all forms of crime, ensure public security, and counter modern threats.
