Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry's press service reported.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the state of bilateral relations, as well as international issues of mutual interest. Regional security issues were a prominent focus of the discussion. The parties emphasized the importance of using preventive diplomacy tools to prevent escalation and resolve conflicts.
The heads of departments also discussed the Caspian Sea. They reaffirmed that the Caspian Sea must remain a space of peace, harmony, and good neighborliness, and expressed concern about the environmental situation in the region, calling for increased multilateral cooperation in this area.
Following the talks, Meredov and Araghchi acknowledged the need to develop further diplomatic dialogue and agreed to maintain regular contacts between the two countries' foreign ministries.
The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
