A consultation was held to strengthen transport links between Central Asia and Europe

Within the framework of the Trans-European Transport System (TEN-T) expert policy event held in Brussels, Belgium, from April 2 to 5, 2024, a consultation on the possibilities of developing transport connections between Europe and Central Asia was held by the Department of Foreign Economic Relations and Logistics of the "Turkmendenizderyayollary" agency. was attended by his boss.

Within the framework of the meeting, the possibilities of strengthening the sustainable transport system in Central Asia within the framework of the TEN-T policy of the European Union were discussed. In particular, in June 2023, the analysis work on the transport system of Central Asia, published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, discussed the directions and possibilities of the TEN-T approach that can be used in Central Asia.

In addition, questions and answers were discussed regarding areas of interest in strengthening the sustainable transport system in the Central Asian region. In this context, the problems originating from the transport diplomacy of Turkmenistan, and the major projects of regional significance related to the transport system of Turkmenistan, which are currently being implemented, were discussed.

Within the framework of the event, bilateral talks were held between transport experts from Central Asian countries and TEN-T policy experts from Europe. In this context, the experts expressed their opinion that the creation of a joint platform of reconciliation between the European Union and Central Asia can give a positive result. It was also reported on the Turkmen side's readiness to organize a meeting of representatives of European state agencies and companies, which was agreed to be held in Ashgabat as a result of the Ministerial meeting held in Luxembourg on October 23, 2023. The TEN-T policy of the European Union is transport between 27 European countries until 2050. It is a policy aimed at gradually strengthening the system. Within the framework of Europe's Global Gateway Strategy, issues of developing transport connections between other regions of the world are prioritized.
