Ashgabat, January 15 (TDH). Today, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a conference entitled “Year of International Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan’s Cooperation with the International Community.” It was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of specialized agencies of the United Nations in Turkmenistan, heads of higher education institutions, professors, and students.
The speakers at the conference noted that the peace-loving policy, initiated by our Heroic Arkadag and continued under the leadership of our Honorable President, is widely recognized, and in this regard, the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of International Peace and Confidence” on the global stage and the national motto of Turkmenistan is of particular importance. In connection with the implementation of the tasks ahead in accordance with the content of the motto of the year, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, an organizational state committee was established to hold events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of International Peace and Confidence” by the UN General Assembly at a high level. Recently, the first meeting of this committee was held under the chairmanship of our Heroic Arkadag. The National Leader considered organizational issues at the meeting and gave a number of instructions to the relevant leaders. He also emphasized the importance of holding consultations with the UN structural units on the activities of Turkmenistan during the International Year of Peace and Confidence and the development of the Concept of its priority directions and its practical implementation.
The speeches drew special attention to the fact that on January 14, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during which they exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation and the significance of international events to be held in Turkmenistan this year. During the telephone conversation, our Hero presented the main aspects of the relevant Concept prepared for the UN Secretary-General. Antonio Guterres, noting the importance of the Concept, which is aimed at uniting efforts to address important issues on the global agenda, fully approved it.
Then the floor was given to the heads of the United Nations agencies operating in Turkmenistan. As noted in their speeches, the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to develop a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of peace and confidence-building and to strengthen conflict prevention will create conditions for further progress in the International Year of Peace and Confidence, as enshrined in the UN Charter, the recently adopted “Pact for the Future” of the organization, and other documents. The diplomats noted that they had familiarized themselves with the Concept of Turkmenistan’s activities and priorities during the International Year of Peace and Confidence, noting that this document reflects the country’s views on the main issues of the modern global agenda, and reflects the neutral views of states on uniting their efforts on the basis of mutual trust, dialogue, and responsibility.
The heads of the UN specialized agencies in Turkmenistan noted that the cooperation in the areas in which they represent our country is yielding positive results, and expressed their sincere gratitude to our esteemed President and Heroic Arkadag for the opportunities and conditions created for work in independent Turkmenistan, which adheres to the principles of neutrality.
At the end of the conference entitled "Year of International Peace and Trust: Turkmenistan's Cooperation with the International Community", its participants adopted an Address to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Within the framework of the forum, an exhibition dedicated to the declaration of 2025 as the "Year of International Peace and Confidence" at the initiative of Turkmenistan, based on the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, was organized, and a literary and musical composition specially prepared by the students of the institute was performed.
