At a meeting in Gabala, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Ashgabat at his convenience, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
During the talks, current issues regarding the current state and prospects for developing relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were discussed. As noted, a solid foundation has been established for bilateral political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Today, these fraternal ties have reached a qualitatively new level.
The parties noted that the two countries' positions on current global and regional policy issues are similar or congruent. In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its regular support of Turkmenistan's positive neutrality and international initiatives.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty reminded that, at Turkmenistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. He announced that an international forum dedicated to peace and trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 of this year. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Aliyev to participate in the forum.
Thanking for the invitation, the President of Azerbaijan emphasized that Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality makes a significant contribution to strengthening peace and stability in the region and enjoys broad support from the international community.
