Turkmenistan and Georgia signed an agreement on interparliamentary cooperation.

Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova and Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Sh. Papuashvili held talks in Tbilisi as part of the Turkmen parliamentary delegation's two-day official visit to Georgia. Following the meeting, the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Parliament of Georgia, TDH reports.

During the talks, the parties noted that Turkmen-Georgian cooperation is developing on a regular and systematic basis and covers a wide range of areas of mutual interest. Interparliamentary ties are given a special place in this interaction as an important tool for strengthening mutual understanding and coordinating positions on key issues on the bilateral agenda.

The parties discussed prospects for joint legislative initiatives, improving the work of friendship groups, sharing experiences between relevant committees, and establishing contacts between young and female parliamentarians of the two countries. The meeting participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue mutual support for initiatives within international organizations.
