Iran's Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Rouzbahani, announced plans to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

He said this during a festive reception at the Iranian embassy dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, reports CentralAsia.news.

According to the diplomat, Turkmenistan is one of the main partners of Iran in the region. The countries are actively increasing mutual trade, developing transit along the North-South route, strengthening cooperation in energy and trade. Interstate trade reached about $470 million.

In turn, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, noted that the economic partnership with Iran is developing on a complex basis. Currently, the countries are working on a number of joint projects within the framework of the intergovernmental commission.
