Antwerp Maritime Academy is interested in cooperation with Turkmenistan

During the meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, Sapar Palwanov, and the Director General of the Antwerp Maritime Academy, Rouen van Scheren, opportunities for cooperation in the field of maritime education and training of specialists working in maritime space were discussed. During his visit to the university college where specialists of the Belgian navy are trained, the Turkmen ambassador got acquainted with the main areas of the academy's work, educational programs, research activities and professional development courses offered. Rowan van Scheren presented the special education programs of the academy and noted that its certificates are internationally recognized. He said that this confirms the high quality of the education provided here, which enjoys a high reputation in the global maritime community.

The head of the Antwerp Maritime Academy expressed his interest in developing cooperation relations with Turkmenistan, noting that this opens up new opportunities for exchanging students and teachers, implementing joint scientific projects, and meeting the requirements for providing Turkmenistan's maritime sector with highly educated specialists. In the conversation with the Turkmen ambassador, the reputation of the academy's research activities was drawn on the basis of the order of the seaports and relevant authorities. According to the CEO of the Academy, cooperation in this field will help to implement joint research projects on the harmonious coordination of modern port infrastructure and logistics processes in Turkmenistan. Responding to the initiatives of the Director General of the Antwerp Maritime Academy, the Turkmen ambassador expressed Turkmenistan's interest in developing its maritime industry sector and training high-level specialists in this field, and was ready to support the further discussion of possible areas of cooperation.

Sapar Palwanov proposed to look into the possibilities of establishing direct cooperation between Antwerp Maritime Academy and Turkmenbashi Naval Secondary Vocational Training School as the main partner in Turkmenistan. It was also discussed about the role of this secondary vocational school in training high-level specialists for the development of the maritime industry of Turkmenistan. As a result of the meeting, an initiative was put forward to prepare a memorandum of cooperation between the Belgian and Turkmen sides in the relevant field.
