
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin during a press conference.
"The next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS member states is scheduled for October 9 at the Avaza National Tourist Zone, with Russian President Vladimir Putin participating," the diplomat stated.
Volynkina noted that Turkmenistan will chair the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026. "We are confident that our Turkmen friends will successfully fulfill this honorable and responsible mission," he emphasized.
The ambassador also announced that a Russian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin will visit Ashgabat on January 28-29 to hold bilateral consultations on regional security issues.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is expected to visit Turkmenistan in the first half of 2026 as part of the CIS Heads of Government Meeting. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will arrive in Turkmenistan in October.
"As you can see, 2026 promises to be a very eventful year for us," the diplomat concluded.
