Issues related to Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization were discussed

Today, as part of his visit to Geneva, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, met with Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

During the meeting, the sides discussed Turkmenistan's current relations with the WTO and possible forms of cooperation in the future, including issues related to Turkmenistan's accession to the organization, the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The Director-General of the WTO positively assessed the efforts made by Turkmenistan and the high-level approach shown towards membership in the organization. Ngonzi Okonjo-Iweala expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow and the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow for their strategic support in this regard.

At the end of the meeting, it was confirmed that both sides are ready to further expand cooperation within the framework of Turkmenistan's steps towards joining the multilateral trading system.
